Attn shoppers: Unmarked trainers; possibly Kingman?

Post by Chris Brame »

This seller has a small batch of 1944-era B-17 photos taken at some Western training base; only serial that's clear is 42-40023 which went to Kingman, Las Vegas and Hobbs, but there's no G or Z or H on it. Behind it, partly obscured by the seller's watermark, is another Fort with what may be a G- code (possibly G-0_); I don't think I've seen any other Kingman tail codes so this would be a good find. Anyone here bidding? If not, I'll give it a shot.

wondering if the is not a G but the number 6 with the water mark hiding a third digit - so 60 ??

Wondering if this might be 42-31300

Pretty sure it's a letter G:

And I guess it will stay a mystery - threw out a large last minute bid and lost by a couple bucks, as it goes into someone else's collection and probably won't see the light of day again. Who knew obscure trainers would pull that much money? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
