According to Roger Freeman/David Osborne B-17 Reference work: "The B-17 Flying Fortress Story" :

B-17E # 41-9141

Delivered Geiger Field, 301 BG 01May42;
Alamogordo AAF, 18June42;
Westover AAF, 02July42;
Walla Walla AAF, 12Aug42;
Boise AAF, 26Oct42;
Lockbourn AAF, 04April 43;
Las Vegas AAF, 17Oct43;
RFC Albuquerque, 05July45

If this info is correct, the airplane never left the states.

Good Luck with your research.

There are certainly a lot of sources in the web for you to look at. The B17E Flying fortress is a heavy bomber plane produced during the second world war. Wikipedia has lot of information about it! Enjoy.
