...here's another one: a B-17C or D, likely Stateside and apparently later in the war:

Summary of the soldier's time in the USAAF:
Gunnery school at Kingman, then to Yuma, AZ and then Lincoln, NE, then to El Paso TX for Air Crew Training. Transport to England via the RMS Acquitania landed at Greenock, Scotland in Jan. 1945 and then to Bassingborne near Cambridge about 30 miles from London.
So... with most Cs and Ds expended in combat, which one is this? Rainier Rain may be a clue.
