With the wind deflector it would seem to be a camera port and maybe also used for leaflet drops as well.Cant imagine who they wanted to drop leaflets to so my guess is camera.

Looks to me they were parting it out.Looks as if the left main has been knocked off the mount really making a mess of everything.Anyone seen a picture of her back on her gear?

I agree on stateside trainer.It may have been an E model upgraded with paddleblade props and cowlings as well as nose glass.The paint looks too nice for war weary as well.
