One Doolittle raider B25 ended up in Russian territory.

Since the crew was not buried, they were interned for a period of time.

I am not sure the nose of the B17 is so pointy - believe a poorly reproduced photo with high contrast (direct sun on top and dark shadows on the sides) makes it look that way.
I would like to see the original photo as well.

I have to say this restoration project is l-o-n-g overdue. I only hope that Swoose is re-assembled in my lifetime. I'm not "that old", but...it HAS been apart and in storage almost all of my life. I applaud whomever in NASM & NMUSAF worked together to make this change in venue a reality and I agree ...

If I had to make a guess, the picture that Dik posted is the film crew preparing to shoot a "process shot". There is a frame with some cloth material on the rear wall of the studio you can see behind the cockpit. After the scene was filmed they would "marry" the footage of the pilot in the cockpit w...
