New B-17 book
Hello, I hope it’s ok to share this here. I’m upset excited to announce that we at EAA wrote a book about the veterans we have flown onboard our B-17 “Aluminum Overcast”. The book is filled with great photos (both wartime and new air to air). It’s filled with their stories. Told to us in person near...

B-17 with the most damage
I had a veteran fly with us that said that he was on a B-17 in the 483rd Bomb Group that returned with the most combat damage. True to the fact that the Bomb Group actually built a memorial to honor this event at Warner Robbins. Does anyone have any photos of this aircraft.

Re: March Air Museum B-17 repaint
It was. Their B-17 was assigned to the 15th Air Force in 1944. They are not clear if it flew any combat missions or not, but it was delivered as a combat ready aircraft. Eventually the airplane was assigned to General Ira Eaker. It was named Starduster. Their plan is to keep in combat configuration ...

Re: Forts with Original War time turrets.
The turrets are the original. The top turret dome is not. In combat, the Belle had a type 2 dome. During training, it received a type 4 dome. It was traded with Texas Raiders for a Type 3. The NMUSAF is modifying that back to the Type 2 since none are available except for fiber glass replicas.

Re: Forts with Original War time turrets.
Here is the story I got. What was thought to be a later style turret installed on the belle was infact the original turret just with a modifcation done to it. SO the original turret remained, and it has been demoded to it's original WWII configuration by the NMUSAF. I will check .

Cross Country trip and B-17 spotting
I had the chance to take a cross country trip with a friend of mine. We basically went from air museum to air museum and historic sites. Took about 2 weeks. I thought that you guys might like to see the B-17's we got to see along the way. B-17F "Boeing Bee" at Museum of Flight http://i135.photobucke...

Needed are window frames and stringers
We are in desperate need of window frames for about all of the windows, and stringers in the waist are missing. That whole piece that goes around the fueselage by the ball turret as well as the first one as you walk in the wais hatch and look forward. Ours gave up parts for Shoo Shoo Baby.

Re: William Wyler's Memphis Belle
I love it. It is very clear, and it is just cool to see not only what is being shot, but what is in the background. There is no sound at all, and that is OK with me.

Re: William Wyler's Memphis Belle
I bought the remastered one, and yes it is more clear. This is the special edition one that has the black cover. It also has alot of the cut footage on a second disc inside.
