We hope to have a piece of the B-17C project at Thunder Over Michigan this year.
I'm trying to get some forms made, and with any luck, a very recognizable part of the
shark tailed fortress will be ready for display.
I also found something interesting in the Y1B-17 drawings.
The fuselage skin was riveted with "Ice Box" rivets - AN455DDx-x 2024 alloy.
I couldn't believe it! When I get back from my business trip, I'll post a
snippet of the drawing.

If you don't know, an "E" rivet is a direct replacement for the "DD" rivets and need no heat treatment or ice box.
