Last one , the OTHER flying B-29No

Post by jmkendall »

Nope not Fifi!!!

This was also at the 1980 Travis AFB open house.

Those were the days when you could fly a civilian owned nuclear capable Bomber to an Air Force Base!!!

I asked the CAF guys if they hadn't said they had the only flying B-29 in the World. Their reply was "We do!". So I asked what about that one???

Where they just looked at me and said "What B-29?"

Now part of the Kermit Weeks collection in unrestored condition. Would be great to see her and FiFi flying formation in the future! Of course you could say that about many aircraft awaiting restoration.

Kermit posted on his blog the other day about flying Fifi and had a few comments about his B-29. He mentions that his B-29 restoration is a long way off.

Here is an older post, it looks like Aero Trader may be fixing up one of his nose sections for display. This one looks like it has remnants of the same Fertile Myrtle markings.

EDIT: Fantasy of Flight just posted 130 photo's of their new "Golden Hill" storage facility on Facebook. In it there appears to be a full B-29 fuselage with a nice looking Fertile Myrtle nose section. (Also pictured are several shots of his B-17) So I guess he has 3 airframes, one at FoF and the others at the AeroTrader storage facility. (With a nose in Chino)...

Must be nice. :D
So many warbirds so little time.

Here's hoping this project gets done. It would be great to see a pair of B029's flying again! :D
