Re: The "Hawaiian Air Depot" Camouflage Scheme

Finally got around to scanning what's probably 40-3060; B-18 in the bg has "305" on the fin, I think:

Hmm. Could it be 44-83345, 44-83547, or 44-83549?

Did some digging on the Cumberland, MD B-17 and found another photo - PLUS a clue to the plane's ID: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52628023015_589363c1fb_b.jpg More stories: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52627833329_4f5e1e15f0_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52628023185_d1800aa...

Re: Surplus Warplane Transfers to Schools 1945-1948

Went through the Goshen High School yearbooks from 1945 to 1958, and found only one shot of the Wildcat - this photo of the Auto Mechanics class in 1948:
Wildcat Goshen 48-01.jpg
Also don't forget Yale University had B-17D 40-3092.

B-17C 40-2042 crash, 1-25-43

I was going through my .doc file copy of David Osborne's book B-17 FORTRESS MASTER LOG and noticed this listing for the first B-17C built: RB-17C 40-2042 Del Air Force 21/7/40, the first such service flight, but then sent back to Boeing for two years, before returning to AF. Del Lockbourn (e) , OH, ...

Re: 42-5722 Hobbs 62

AAIR shows it as a landing accident ground collision (with an odd double listing):
42-5711 and 42-6154 accident.jpg
Any photos of 42-6154 there? I don't think you had H 62 on your list before now, correct?
