Re: Found Parts : A-5 Automatic Pilot, Radar, etc
The B-17 used the Sperry C-1 Autopilot.
Can you post a picture of the radar dish? Would be interested to see what that is all about.
"Chuckie" was, before being sold, being restored with an H2S "Mickey" dome in the ball
turret position.

Re: .30 Cal Ball Sockets
Still on simmer at this point.
I've had little external interest
in the ball sockets, and we've been
busy with radio room extrusion
and fitting procurement. I will
probably get back with the guy I
asked to look into it, and come up
with some cost estimates in the fall.

Solved: Need Help to ID this - railroad maybe?
From a B-29 expert: > Hi Bill, what you have there is a pair of ammo booster assemblies for a B-29 gun turret, > specifically a lower turret. Yours were never fully assembled though, of course! General > Railway Signal made a lot of turret stuff for the B-29, including complete turret systems :wink...

Need Help to ID this - railroad maybe?
OK. These came in a box marked "B-17". It is steel. It is nothing we've ever seen. Anyone have any idea? Tag reads: General Railway Signal Co. Rochester, N.Y. 8672101-G1 SER 584217 MFD by Bendix Home Appliances, Inc. South Bend, IND. The second one is the mirror of the first, with the number: 86721...

B-17G Picture for Hang
Hang shared this picture of his dad's bird, which he had just received. Pretty cool! http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa316/B17_Dry_Martini/NCM_0315_zps9ada66fc.jpg Wish I could make out the data block. Any info on it, Tom? http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa316/B17_Dry_Martini/FlyingLatrine_zp...

CAD Volunteer wanted
Anyone up for taking a B-17C part drawing
and converting it to a CAD file, complete
with dimensions, saved in .DWG and .DXF
formats?

Hang,
You need to win the lottery, and hire me full time to help out.
Then, there will be no shortage of B-17 parts as we work through
the night.

Re: B-17F Nose Glass
Hang says "You'll get used to it".
Everyone is so used to seeing those late 'G' Vega noses,
that they forget how nice a Boeing perspex nose looks.
