Re: Restoration of B-17E 41-2595 "Desert Rat"
Some other miscellaneous things. Here is one of the .30 cal ammo box holders found in the nose. There are two, one is a 2-box and the other is a 3-box holder. We have a second 2-box holder for sale, if anyone is interested. https://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa316/B17_Dry_Martini/B17_30CalAmmoBoxH...

Some pictures of a recent piece, the intercooler shutter stand. This is located on the right side of the co-pilot on the floor against the cockpit wall. Four handles operate the temperature controls for the four engine's superchargers. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa316/B17_Dry_Martini/IMG_20...

Re: Restoration of B-17E 41-2595 "Desert Rat"
It's funny you should ask. Rian Olsen sent this picture to me just a few weeks ago. https://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa316/B17_Dry_Martini/Bomber_61_zps7xmueiqq.png I know we got the nose frame from Lonestar Museum in a trade many years ago. My bet is that this is our frame, because the punch-ou...

Re: Restoration of B-17E 41-2595 "Desert Rat"
We had been working on the ball turret area, fabricating the turret hanger and reinforcements. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa316/B17_Dry_Martini/B17_BallTurretHanger_zpsr92kghdr.jpg Installed, this looks like: http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa316/B17_Dry_Martini/B17_BallTurretHangerInsta...

Re: Restoration of B-17E 41-2595 "Desert Rat"
Well, this is a long time in coming, but since I can post pictures again, let's get caught up. When we last left our heroes, they were cornered by giant spiders and rodents of enormous size in the corner of the restoration shop. Luckily, they had a shotgun and a can of "Raid"... The control surface...

Re: B-17C Update
It's been a long time coming, but I've worked out the 3rd party host issues, at least for the time being. And, as I have been asked about what is happening with the B-17C project, well, here you go. Most of the last couple years, we have been prioritizing the B-17E over the C for obvious reasons. I...

Dry Martini and The Cocktail Kids - Help!
Funny things happen on the internet. A person contacted me on Facebook regarding my forum name, wondering if I had nay connection to the B-17 "Dry Martini". Turns out they are the nephew of the original tail gunner. He sent me some pictures of the plane and crew I had never seen before. I'd like to...

It's Here! Help a B-17!
Good evening, friends of the Flying Fortress! We have come up with an idea to help out the "Desert Rat" B-17E and the "Mary Ann" B-17C projects. With the help of Scott at aerovintage.com, whose is committed to all things B-17 related (or maybe should just be committed), we have put together a page w...

I'm out, too, Nick. I'm good for $20 if it does go high.

Re: Trainer B-17 Y code
Do I see that right?
41-2596 right above the "HQ" line?
You don't see 41-2595 in there, do you?
Now THAT would be cool.

Re: Some C-models; ID location/squadron?
Chris,
The cowling is different, as are the panels aft of the cowl, and
the intakes. (although I could not see the intakes in your photos)
