Re: Next B-17 Restoration Rebuild to Fly?
Just my opinion, I don't know any of these people, but it wouldn't surprise me that Mr. Allens recent passing could have acted like a wake up call, that maybe you don't have all the time in the world. Crystal Ball, pie in the sky time. Two of Brooks B-17s by the end of this year, or beginning of ne...

I have not read that, but it wouldn't be the least bit surprising if they were all torched after being pushed into the pit.

Re: Clark Field Bone Yard
Not following the topic/question of OP, but related to the topic of the Clark Field Bone Yard. By the looks of post war dumping that went on, there are P-38's for days just a few feet under the dirt. Certainly there must be something of historical interest still buried in the dump. -Land use/Permit ...

Re: Payne Field War Weary 17s
Yes, it was rather hard to strip an entire B-17, usually done with gasoline and lots of elbow grease. The only reasoning I could think of, and this is just an educated guess... if the amount of replacement parts that needed to be used on a war weary model....IE stabilizers, wing panels, engines, cow...

Re: B-17G 44-83859/CP-767 accident photo
Have you seen this, Scott? https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/968/40997867365_1fff9e8c09_c.jpg Blurry, but the registration sure looks like CP-767, ex 44-83859, which per Final Cut was w/o at Santa Ana, Bolivia on 4-13-67. (BTW - there are two Santa Anas in Bolivia; Santa Ana de Velasco and Santa Ana de...

It was disappointing to see the interior pics showing the bomber has been stripped clean.

Re: Kee Bird B-29
I'm sure we've all heard of Kee Bird, a sad story of why we don't have three flying B-29s. Despite the loss of the majority of her airframe, there are still wings, engines, etc... And I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to get the remaining airframe fragments registered with the FAA if they aren't alr...

Re: Rebuild of B-17F 42-3455 "Lucky 13"
A couple of questions... Are you only one guy doing all the work or do you have a team of employees or volunteers? Is "Lucky 13" currently under a 501c3 museum where people can donate/contribute to the effort or is this solely your own private effort?

Re: Rebuild of B-17F 42-3455 "Lucky 13"
It sure is awesome to see this collection of bits being returned to a viable example. To think that some individuals had the foresight not to take the wreckage to the scrapyard and cash it it....another airframe will come out of the pile. truly amazing.
