This one appears to be post 1948 since its USAF. Note the interesting camera modification on the nose.
Anyone have any ideas? Something about these anonymous 17s always intrigues me

More from Payne Field
I got the scrapbooks. Only three more of 17s but a bunch of 24s, 38s, 25s and others. A bit of a gold mine :) First up is one I have to believe one of the experts here will be able to tell us more about. Somebody's VIP bird no doubt http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s199/guppy35/Flying%20Forts/VIP_...

Re: Payne Field War Weary 17s
Great stuff Steve! Did you (or Dan) get the photo of that sharktail B-17 named Willie ? No on Willie, but i did work a deal out with the guy who had the photos above. They were from a pair of scrapbooks that have about 200 images taken by a vet who was at Payne field. Not all planes and not all 17s...

Payne Field War Weary 17s
I've been on a cold streak lately, but got lucky last week. Images arrived today. Three war weary 17s from Payne Field. Not sure on time frame but assume 45 or post war. An interesting recce 17F
This one popped on eBay a bit ago and I was able to get it. i was intrigued by the camera set up in the nose. hadn't seen one like this. As always, I'm open to any thoughts and education on this particular bird. http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s199/guppy35/Flying%20Forts/Photo171_zpsdyqkklqv.jpg ...

A Hendricks YB?
Grabbed this one recently. Figure that based on the number on the nose it might be a Hendrick's Field YB. Interesting to see the nose set up. Back of the photo says it was taken on a cross country flight to Richmond Virginia. http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s199/guppy35/Flying%20Forts/HendricksYB...

Re: Mystery B-17 Trainer: Queenie with "U1" code
OK - start trying some things like I've been trying for 42-1028XX in Paducah: High school yearbooks: Check the local library's 1947 through 1950 Pipestone yearbooks for photos (aeronautics class and candid shots pages); I tried classmates.com, but they only have '46 and '51. See if there's a Facebo...
