Re: Soviet use of the B-17
I agree Chuck it is eerily similar to the LB pictures. Zemper, thanks for sharing the rest of the pictures. If I had to take a stab at it I'd guess that these forts were involved in one of the shuttle bombing missions between the Med. and Russia. I am sure someone here with a bit more knowledge coul...

Re: Liberty Belle down. Crew O.K.
Here is a very nice statement by Ray Fowler... First, let me start off by sincerely thanking everyone for the outpouring of support that we are receiving. I am sorry that I have not yet had the opportunity to return the many phone calls, text or e-mails that I am receiving offering to help. Again, t...

Re: Liberty Belle down. Crew O.K.
After looking at more pictures it appears that the crew made a very good controlled, gear down landing in a field. Amazing work in a very tough situation.
Sadly it looks like the post-landing fire did significant damage.

Liberty Belle down. Crew O.K.
Looks like B-17, 44-85734, crashed earlier today in Illinois. Reports are that everyone aboard made it out.

Re: 1943 Movie "Air Force"
So, after seeing this thread and reading all of the excellent research you folks have done I had to ad Air Force to my Netflix list. I watched the movie the other day. The early war aircraft footage was fantastic. I really enjoyed seeing the P-43's, early P-40's and P-39's. Of course the early B-17'...

Very nice footage. Although it is dissasembled it looks like most of it is there. Hopefully they will get it restored.

Re: B-17F 42-29589 Crashed 2/22/44.
I just wanted to ad an update to this topic. As of this past September I passed along copies of my notes and research to someone from the National Parks Service. It sounds like the idea to install a small memorial near the crash site is moving forward. There are several local citizens still involved...

Re: 1/32nd B-17 kit coming
Hang the Expense. I would not worry to much. According to posts on other forums the model shown is just the prototype/ mockup. The company is seeking input and critiques from the modeling community. I'd expect the most glaring issues to be worked out.
I am looking forward to ordering one.
