Re: A long shot, but worth a try
In my humble opinion, I think it might be B-17E 41-2467 being utilized as an airframe trainer at Amarillo AAF. Bomb markings and Japanese flags look like they line up accordingly with the above photo, though a column of flags appear to be missing in final image below. https://i130.photobucket.com/al...

Haven't heard or seen from Hang the Expense in a couple of years on here. Is he too busy building B-17 parts?I miss his updates and posts.

Re: Rebuild of B-17G 44-85734 "Liberty Belle"
Below is the link to the Twisted Piston blog that is documenting the restoration of Liberty Belle. It is updated regularly. Looks to be the GA location for this project, and not the SC location as documented in this thread.

Re: New Build Sperry A-1A Top Turret Dome
Hang,
Is this turret dome you built a few years back the same one that the Movie Memphis Belle is now sporting? Looks to be same/correct type A-1A for early B-17F.
Also, haven't heard from you on here in forever. What's cookin' in your shop?

Steve,
What serial # do you reckon the below is? Surely not the same bird. Link refers to this aircraft as part of the Brereton Detachment.

It's interesting to see how much of a B-17 can stay intact after over 70 yrs in the churning sea.
