This is a photo of B-17E 41-9209, which crashed at Jackson Airdrome, Port Moresby, PNG, on 12 April 1943.

Here is my guess, and only a guess.

I know that the nose number does not always match the tail serial number.

The airplane is a B-25C 41-12960 and it went down on 24 Jan 1944.
This is the correct serial and date.
The subject heading in the book "The Aluminum Trail" is in error.

Looking for the AAF serial number of a B-25 that went missing over the Hump on 23 Jan 1943.

The airplane was later found at 26 degrees 58 min / 95 degrees 30 min.

Need full names and rank of crew.
