| After USAF service ended in 1957, 43-28222 was registered as N5256V and operated as one of the first B-25 air tankers by Paul Mantz. N5256V served as a tanker into the early 1960s and then went derelict at Grass Valley, California. It was rescued and restored for first at Beale AFB, CA, and then Hurlbert Field.
