An extremely rare B-17D remains in storage with the National Air and Space Museum. "The Swoose" is the sole B-17D survivor of the first year of the Pacific War and continued in service through 1945 as a VIP transport. It's been disassembled for the past 50 years. (2006 photo by Taigh Ramey) close
